Richard F. Rumbaugh

Richard Floyd Rumbaugh, 88 of Monroeville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 12, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born March 27, 1935, to the late Alvie M. Rumbaugh and Mildred Irene Burkett Lauffer Rumbaugh. Following his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he attended Slippery Rock University where he received his degree in Education. He served the Penn Hills School District for 30+ years. In his spare time, he was a football referee and enjoyed bowling, softball, and volleyball. He also enjoyed DIY projects around the house.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracie Rumbaugh Panzek of Maricopa, AZ., son and daughter in law, Richard and Diana Rumbaugh of Arlington, VA., and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jocelyn Cowen Rumbaugh, who passed away on December 9, 2022; grand-daughter Gabriella Cristina Rumbaugh; and siblings Betty Jane Lauffer Rumbaugh Williamson Stull, Evelyn Rumbaugh Guthrie, Donald Dean Rumbaugh, Robert M. Rumbaugh, Bonnie Lee Rumbaugh Keys, and Thelma Rumbaugh Steele.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
