Kathryn White

Kathryn Marie Gaskin White was born on June 7, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA; the youngest daughter of the late James and Lillie Gaskin.  She lived the majority of her life in Rankin, PA and the surrounding areas.

Kathryn accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Rankin, PA.  For many years she sang with the Senior Choir.  She was a member of the Sunshine Club, serving as the president for several years.  In later years she joined the Rodman Street Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, PA.  She was an active member at Rodman singing with the Senior and Mass Choirs from 1984-2004.  In 2004, Kathryn joined the Morning Star Baptist Church in West Mifflin, PA.  Kathryn was a faithful and active member.  She served as a Deaconess and sang with the choir until her health began to fail.

Kathryn was married to Willie White for 37 years.  From a previous union she was blessed with two daughters- Karen Stanton, Pittsburgh, PA and Debra Hocket, Pittsburgh, PA.

For many years Kathryn worked for Mercy Hospital in administration.  She also worked in Human Resources administration at Mellon Bank until she retired.

She loved the Lord and following a long illness she transitioned from labor to reward to live in a mansion with the Lord on January 6, 2021.

Kathryn was a feisty, fun-loving, full-of-life, no-nonsense woman.  She was devoted to family and friends.  Kathryn loved to be of service to others and helped many people during her life.  She was a great pianist who loved music, particularly the hymns of the church.   She loved to dance, especially “The Electric Slide”.  She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest extent.

Kathryn leaves to celebrate her life her devoted husband, Willie, two daughters, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, one brother-in-law and a host of relatives and friends.
