Of Mt. Lebanon, formally Forest Hills passed away on February 27, 2023. Beloved husband of Jean (Black) George for 66 years. Father of Brian N. (Joyce) George and Diane F. George. Grandfather of Christopher L. (Shannon) George; step-grandfather of Deanna Wysocki; great-grandfather of Christopher D. and Skylar George; and step-grandfather and David, Noah, Rosie, and Brian Wysocki. Brother of William N. George and brothers-in-law, Harry (Mary Alice) Black and Edward (Beverly) Black. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Norman N. and Dorothy Lillich George, and grandson Brian Charles George. Chuck graduated from Wilkinsburg High School Class 51. He attended Pitt and graduated from the American Institute of Banking. Employed at Mellon Bank for 42 years retiring as vice president in the Corporate Finance Dept. He was an avid reader, loved jazz, and had a collection of owls of all sizes. Family vacations included tent camping and Stone Harbor. Chuck and Jean also traveled to Europe, particularly Germany and England. December 2005 found them moving to Asbury Heights in Mt. Lebanon where all levels of living were available. They enjoyed the independent life there. Parkinson’s Disease necessitated Chuck’s move to the Nursing Units. The family is grateful for the care given by the nursing staff and Family Hospice. A Celebration of life will be held later in the Hickman Chapel at Asbury Heights.

Age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023. Daughter of the late Willis and Arthur Mae DuBoise; wife of the late Arthur W. Johnson; beloved mother of Janet Johnson Rosser and the late Cynthia “Cynndie” Vereen. Devoted grandmother of Barry Thompson, Camille Rosser, Anita Rosser, and Alisha Vereen. Loving great-grandmother of Alexis Henry, Brandi Christian, and Kara Vereen; great-great-grandmother of Valentine, Aaliyah, and Kaecee. Sister of the late Wallace DuBoise and Gladys Barnette. Marian enjoyed a 30-year career in the Federal Government. Marian loved traveling extensively with her husband. She took several trips to many countries in Africa including a month crossing the Sahara Desert living in tents and visiting many countries in Europe. She was an avid needleworker, especially in crochet, quilting, and dressmaking. She loved playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, Dr. Marvine M. Garrett, beloved daughter, and sister, passed away at 11:13 AM at Allegheny General Hospital. She was called home after coping with several medical issues once she retired from Crescent Elementary School as Principal in 2007. Her Memorial Service will be at ROSE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (10940 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235), on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dr. Garrett’s name be made payable to Habitat for Humanity. All donations should be forwarded to Dr. Marvine M. Garrett by February.
