Charles “Jody” Raeford Jr

Age 63, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Charles and Rose Raeford, Sr. Devoted husband of Shirell Raeford. Loving father of Camden Raeford, Corbin Raeford, Mario Montoya, and Dominick Montoya. Brother of Robin (Carl) Turner, Candace (Kent) Jones and Lisa (Ken) Croom. Jody is also survived by his faithful companion, Cairo, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was the executive director of a nonprofit that was near and dear to his heart for over a decade, Hope Foundation. He was handy, funny, and most of all, reliable. He always had a smile on his face. Jody always put others before himself, all the way up until the end. Jody was known as a teacher, a kind and patient man who brought light to everyone he encountered. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Friends received Tuesday 4 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. at ROSE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC

Nicholas Boyko

Age 90, of Penn Hills, PA, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Son of the late Nicholas, Sr. and Amelia; husband of Mary Ann Boyko; father of Nicholas (Joyce) Boyko and the late Jerry (surviving wife Amanda Porbst) Boyko; grandfather of Nicholas (Hannah) Boyko, Kiera Boyko, Brendan Boyko, Jacob Boyko, and Kayla Bair; great-grandfather of Anastasia Boyko; brother of the late Alex Boyko, George Boyko, Carla Boyko Switzer, Mary Boyko Mancuso; brother-in-law of Earl Acquaviva and Catherine (Robert) Then; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends. Nick served in the US Navy and worked for the Local 373. He was also an avid Pirates fan and a head usher at St. Bartholomew’s Parish. Friends received Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at ROSE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Susanna Church – Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish, 200 Stotler Rd., Penn Hills 15235.

Fredrick C Harris

Fredrick Harris was born July 30, 1935, he was an only child to both of his parents that preceded him in death. Freddie, who he was affectionately known as, attended Five Ave High School in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, PA.  He also served in the United States Marine Corp. throughout his work career, Freddie held some prestigious positions as an expert computer analyst and a middle Manager/Supervisor for Blue Cross Blue Shield.  One thing that you know about Freddie is, that he was an avid jazz music fan and had an extensive jazz record collection.  He cherished his family and was an exceptional father to his children.  Freddie made his transition into eternity on July 19, 2024.  He leave to cherish his wonderful memory, two daughters, Angela Harris and Carmen Harris, two sons Fredrick Harris III and Kevin Phillips as well as a host of other family and friends. Memorial service will held July 31, 2024, at 11 am at the funeral home.  

Cora L Reynolds

Cora L. Reynolds was 101 years old when she went home to be with the Lord early Saturday afternoon on July 13, 2024.  she was the daughter of Nannie Mae (Loper) and Jessie Summers Sr.  She was born April 19, 1923 in Yellow Pine, Alabama.  Cora made Pittsburgh her home in 1945 with her husband the late Claude D. Reynolds Sr. Raised in the church, she was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church of Penn Hills under the direction of the late Rev. Eugene L Roberts and the late First Lady Isabelle Roberts.  There, Cora diligently served as an usher, sang in the choir and worked as a missionary.   at 98 years young, Cora joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church on February 14, 2021, under the direction of Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis Sr. Pastor. Although, Cora loved bowling (which she continued to do well into her 80’s), watching soap operas ans family feud.  She was known for her greens, BBQ sauce and sweet potato pie.  What mattered the most was FAMILY! Cora raised her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Now that is a pillar of love.  These are some of the many reasons to celebrate her life. Cora was proceeded in death by her Husband Claude D. Reynolds Sr.: Three brothers , Jessie Summers Jr., Rev. J>C> Summers and William Summers: one daughter Dorris Dawson, two sons Donald Ray Williams and Claude D. Reynolds Jr. and one grandson Johnny Dawson. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister Ella (Stan) Holbrook.  Three daughters Lorraine Bolden, Rosemary Whittle and Renee Reynolds: one son Anthony (Lynetta) Reynolds, thirteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Friends received Saturday, July 20, 2024 10 am til time of service at 11am at the funeral home.

Anita Ferguson

Anita Louise Ferguson Lel, a beloved resident of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on July 11th. She was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1963 and was a proud graduate of Peabody High School. Anita was a loving mother to David (LyLy) Ferguson and Kristin (Mario) Weaver, and a devoted grandmother to her five granddaughters (Nana-girls): Latrice, Danaisha, Tationa Ferguson, Kennedy, and Amori Weaver. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Ferguson Sr. She is survived by her mother, Janice Ferguson, and her siblings, Ed Ferguson, Phil Ferguson, and Marc Ferguson (Barbara) and a host of nephews, nieces and close friends. Friends received Wednesday, July 24, 2024 4pm to 6pm at the funeral home.
