Marian Juanita (Boone) Allen October 5, 1935 – March 13, 2025 Marian passed away in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at age 89, leaving a void her family and friends cannot fill. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1935, to Edward and Roberta Boone and was the seventh of nine children. Marian attended the Penn Township (Penn Hills) school system and graduated from Penn Hills High School. She worked at St. Francis Hospital, the Department of Welfare, and the US Postal Service, initially sorting mail and working her way up to an administrative position in the Pittsburgh Post Office’s Equal Employment Opportunity Office. Marian enjoyed travel, especially overseas, with her mother and sisters in her younger life and with her children in later years. She stayed active into her older age and participated in bowling leagues for many years. Marian was skilled in sewing and creative in crafting, which she passed on to her daughter and granddaughter. She loved her community and spent many hours volunteering with children in after-school reading programs and with child evangelism clubs. Those who knew Marian would call her faithful. As a devoted member of St. Mark AME Church, she served the Lord faithfully as a member of the Anna Curry Missionary Society and supported many other Christian ministries. She was faithful to her family, passing along values of diligence, kindness, and honesty. Marian is survived by her sister Edna Richards, son Cornell (Norma) Allen, daughter Celeste Allen, grandchildren Benjamin Allen and Christina Allen, and numerous nieces and nephews, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Allen, parents Edward and Roberta Boone, brothers and sisters Daniel Boone, Hazel Hassen Bey, Beatrice Perry, James Boone, Walter Boone, Joseph Boone, and Mary Wooten. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, 7th June, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark AME Church, 1409 Montier Street, Wilkinsburg, PA 15221, followed by a repast.
