Louise Plummer Russell was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1934, to John Jasper and Blanche Mertle Lee Anderson Plummer. She departed this life on February 14, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona.
In 1955, Louise married James Russell and together they raised their six children: Lemuel, Sheildora, James, Lloyd, Marla, and Neil.
Her life’s work was in service to teaching and caring for others in various roles to include an educator in Pittsburgh Public Schools, a home health aid, and a foster mother. Upon retirement, Louise cherished time with family and friends, making her home in both Arizona and Pittsburgh.
Louise was proceeded in death by her son, Lemuel; her brothers, John Jr., Robert, and Victor Plummer; and her sisters, Isabell Jones and Margaret Wright Eubanks;
In her lifetime, Louise had the privilege to witness her family’s lineage extend across five generations. Her memory will be cherished by her five surviving children; her nine grandchildren: Stephen, Lamont, Tonia, Maya, Tony, Lloyd, April, Neila, Neil Jr; her siblings Nathaniel, Gordon, Donald, Susan; in addition to several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and love.
Friends received Friday, March 6, 2026 11am til time of service at Noon at Rose Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 10940 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
