Johnnie Ferguson

On December 31, 2020 Johnnie Darnell Ferguson, Father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, died at 74 years old. He was the son of the late Thelma Ferguson Smith and Walter Lee Ferguson. Johnnie will be forever remembered by his children, Daryl and Jeanine Ferguson, grandchildren Caleb and Zephaniah Ferguson his sister’s Alice Ferguson Wright, Renee Ferguson Martin, and brother the late Walter Ferguson nephews Arnold J Rose III, Flynn Ferguson, Robert Martin, the late Walter L Ferguson III and nieces Amina Martin, Harolatte Martin, extended family and friends. Johnnie worked for and retired from the City of Pittsburgh as a refugee collector. He loved the casino, lottery, football (watched every NFL game on multiple stations), drawing, old cowboy and karate movies, Marvel and DC comics, Patti Labelle, and spending time with his grandson who he helped raise Zephaniah Ferguson. He was an incredible Father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He made you smile, encourage, and supported many people. Well known as a hard worker, gentle and easy going and a great friend he will be missed by many. Special Remembrance from Daughter Jeanine Ferguson Daddy, God blessed me with you. I was protected, provided for, loved, respected, and cherished.  If I could gift you to every little girl I would.  You were my superhero in this life and now in spirit. You shaped my self-esteem, told me I looked good (even when I did not) encouraged me, helped me to mature so that I respond instead of reacting.  You showed me how a man should treat a woman, taught me football, pool, lottery and tools, to be persistent, driven and determined.   You were reliable, unselfish, dedicated, consistent, non-judgmental and had great character. I am stronger and better because of you. I am going to miss our morning talks, calling you while driving to and from work, working on the lawn, cooking, and laughing at everything. I will see you again though. I will see you again. Arrangements Private Service In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Gift funds Gift Fund Name: Johnnie Ferguson Memorial Service August 25, 2021
