Hassan Bazmi, M.D.

Of Sewickley Heights, PA passed away on December 9, 2018, at age 81, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 11, 1937 in Shiraz, Iran to the late Mohamad Javad Zia and Batool Bazmi. Hassan was the beloved husband of Dr. Neptune Kasraie Bazmi for 53 years; the loving father of Bahar, Babak and Shervin; cherished grandfather of Jasmine and Haley Heusey; and survived by his dear niece, Hengameh Holly Bazmi; and several other family members both in the Unites States and in Iran. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1974 with his family, Hassan graduated from Pahlavi Medical School and served in the Army Health Corp. In the U.S., Hassan completed his residency in General Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, and later became the Head of General Surgery and President of the Medical Staff at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Passavant Hospital. In addition, Hassan was a Fellow of the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons. He was in private surgical practice for over 27 years in the North Hills, where he served thousands of patients in his community. In addition to being a dedicated surgeon, Hassan found much joy in spending time with friends and family, playing tennis and basketball, and singing classical Persian music. Remembrance services will be held in his honor at the Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community (100 Norman Drive) in Cranberry Township, PA on Friday, December 14th from 6-8 p.m. EST.
