Mycah Mariah Shaw

Sunrise March 29 2002; Sunset March 2, 2023 Mycah was known from the day she came in this world to be exuberant.  She was very goal oriented, and when she set her mind on achieving things, she would never let anyone discourage her.  Her independence and adventurousness granted her the opportunities to experience wondrous things in her short life. She enjoyed music and food and visiting new places. With a spirited and loving heart, she touched so many lives along the way. Mycah was a 2020 graduate of University High School in Morgantown, WV, where she participated in DECA and Student Council. Most recently, Mycah was a Junior at her dream school, Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was very active on campus and was a part of the B.E.S.T You Programming Women’s Organization.  Mycah was passionate about creating change in our world. She was an advocate for the BIPOC community and whole heartedly stood for social issues.  Mycah founded the first black student union at University High School and it will continue for generations of future students.  She volunteered for political candidates during the 2020 primary and general election season.  She also participated in nonviolent marches during the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd. Mycah worked as an intern at NVIDIA, as well as Hubspot.  Recently Mycah was selected to be a fellow for the Bridge Fellowship Program in partnership with the National Institute of Health.  She aspired to become a diversity specialist in the tech industry to support women and black and indigenous persons of color who are often underrepresented in the tech industry. She touched the hearts and lives of so many people.  Her family and friends will remember her as a beautiful, shining, vibrant young woman. Mycah was born on Good Friday, March 29, 2002 in Pittsburgh, PA. She will live on in the hearts of her parents Maurice “Mike” Shaw and Abby Shaw and her two younger sisters, Alliyah and Shayna, grandparents Bob and Kathy Price and Linda Shelton, great-grandmother Beatrice Shelton, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will continue to celebrate her legacy. A public vigil will be held at Howard University Campus outdoors( friends will gather near the flagpole) on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 6pm. All whose lives Mycah touched are invited to Rose Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 10940 Frankstown Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 Friday March 24, 2023 4pm to 8pm and Saturday March 25, 2023 9am til time of service at 11am, where we will join together to grieve, reminisce, and to honor Mycah’s life.
