Charles Ray Thompson II

Charles Ray Thompson, II, 63, was born on February 2, 1962, and passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering positivity.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Jean Thompson and Rollins G. Thompson, Sr., whose guidance and devotion shaped his strong character and values. He was a proud 1980 graduate of Penn Hills High School and briefly attended Duquesne University with the encouragement of his uncle, Charles “Mush” Thompson, for whom he was named.

His professional life reflected his energy and versatility. Charles began as a DJ at WPIT Gospel Station and later built a successful career in sales management with Coca-Cola and other Fortune 500 companies. He also devoted many years to Mrs. Thompson’s Bakery, the beloved family business founded by his grandmother, Lucille Thompson, and later operated by his parents. The bakery stood as a symbol of faith, family, and community.

Known for his favorite saying, “I haven’t had a bad day yet,” Charles was admired for his optimism, warm spirit, and gift for making others feel valued.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Aja Rae Thompson; his cherished grandchildren, Azel and A’mei Dickerson; his siblings, Alice “Ree” Thompson, Rollins “Brother” Thompson, Jr. (Yuko), and Helene Louisa Thompson; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by several beloved family members, including his mother-in-law, May Humphries.

Charles also maintained a special lifelong friendship with his former wife, Pamela Collier, reflecting his enduring kindness and respect for family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Funeral Home, 10940 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, PA 15235.

He will be remembered for his laughter, generous heart, and the joy he brought to every gathering. His memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
