On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Donald D. Peterson Sr. feel asleep in death. Originally born in Miami, Florida, Donald moved to Edison in West Mifflin and graduated from West Mifflin North High School.

After graduation, he went to work at U.S. Steel Homestead Works. He started as a laborer and went to trade school and became a Master Carpenter and then became a Foreman.  He married Adrienne Peterson (née Stevenson) and raised three children.  He then went on to work for Duquesne Light and Allegheny Housing Rehabilitation Corporation (AHRCO) from where he eventually retired.  Donald was an avid Steelers fan and music lover.  He loved woodworking, carpentry, and cars.  He also enjoyed socializing and interacting with his close-knit friends and loved ones.

Donald is survived by his three sons Donald D. Jr. (Turk), M. Aaron (Pete) and daughter-in-law Dawn, and Jason C (Koey). He was also the proud grandfather of Destin (Turk); Breanne and Michelle (Pete); Jalen, Jason, Javon, Tiara, Dion, Jasmine, Deja (Koey) and two great-grandchildren Arley (Jalen) and Javon Jr. (Javon). He was also uncle to multiple nieces and nephews.

Donald will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Rose Funeral Home located at 10940 Frankstown Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15235. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 pm. A gathering for friends and family will follow at 232 Hawkins Ave, North Braddock, PA 15104.

Age 76, of Pgh., PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Beloved husband of Catherine Wnuk;  brother of Phyllis Tucker and Marshall Wnuk. Irving made a daily effort to think of others first, to practice understanding and forgiveness. Francis Nils Dickerson, 72, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Francis, known as “Putsey” by his family and friends, was the youngest son born to the late Clarence J. and the late Edna Leona Dickerson, on June 18, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from George Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh in 1966. During his high school years at Westinghouse, Francis played the violin and was in the junior and senior orchestra despite being deaf in one ear. He also played the bass and kettle drum. Francis was also a strong swimmer and was a letterman while at Westinghouse. He was known for his desire to dress in fine clothes and to look dapper wherever he went. He loved playing cards and spending time with his friends. Francis also enjoyed computer science and mathematics. He had a zest for enjoying his life to the fullest.

Following his graduation from high school, Francis served his country as a Seaman for the United States Navy. He served for six years to support U.S. military efforts during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from military service, Francis worked for Equitable Gas Company for several years.

In 1977, Francis married Vanessa Whitfield and lived in Pittsburgh, PA. From their former union, they bore one son, Francis Jovan. Loving as his own, Francis also raised his young step-daughter Oniessa Yancy, along with Vanessa.

Francis was there to help wherever he was asked. Tasks such as painting, cutting grass, moving, and other handiworks were things he enjoyed doing. He served as the caretaker for his mother Edna in her later years by cooking for her, doing housework and taking care of his young nephew, Clarence.

He leaves as his legacy two children: Francis J. Dickerson, and Oniessa C. Yancy. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of family and friends, including six grandchildren, Christopher, JaVoughn, Olivia, Michaela, Saniya, and Eboni; two great-grandchildren, Kaylea and Naomi, and two siblings, Karen Alexander and Clarence F. Dickerson, eight nieces and nephews, Eric (Roz), Kristin (Guy), Howard, Athena, Jamie (Timothy), Kelli, Clarence, and Clarissa, eight great-nieces Keyna, Michaela, Kaitlin, Hailey, Katana, Adara, Lauren, and Khamora. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Carol Arture, brother, James Nathaniel Dickerson, brother-in-law Howard M. Alexander, Jr., sister-in-law Gloria Dickerson, and great-niece Keri Maria Brown.

A memorial and Christian Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on March 13, 2020, at The Church of the Holy Cross in Homewood. Rev. Torrey O. Johnson will officiate the ceremony. Internment following service will be at Homewood Cemetery in Point Breeze. A repast will follow internment at The Church of the Holy Cross.

The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to The Church of the Holy Cross. The family would also like to thank all acts of kindness, prayers, and love bestowed upon them at this time.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1924, Merle Louise Williams was the only child of Alvin and Ethel Williams.  As a child she attended Madison Elementary School and proceeded through the Pittsburgh school system until she graduated from Schenley High School.  After completing business school, Merle moved to Washington, D.C. for a short period of time, to explore her career options.  It was after Merle returned to Pittsburgh that she and Edward W. Bailey began their relationship.  On December 2, 1954 they were married.  Together they made a very nice life for themselves, and were blessed with two daughters; Gayle and Linda.  Once her daughters were in school, Merle decided to return to work.  She had several jobs throughout her career, working for the Pittsburgh Board of Education, the Internal Revenue Service, the Veterans Hospital, and lastly the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County.  Merle and Edward lived in the home they built from 1957 to 2009 when health concerns made it necessary for them to move to Michigan to be closer to family.  After the death of her beloved Edward in 2012, she remained in Michigan until the family relocated.  She spent her final years at Sunrise of Marlboro Senior Living, in New Jersey, under the watchful and experienced personnel who provided excellent care. Sadly, on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Merle made her final transition, moving to a place of rest and peace.  Among the many who celebrate the life of this loving, beautiful, kind, intelligent, and gracious woman are her daughters; Gayle Ragsdale (Randy), Linda Woods  (Arthur), treasured grandchildren, Jessica, Randy II, Devon, and Shanon, and last but not least, one great grandchild, Jaiden. Funeral service will be held February 26, 2020 at 2pm at Rose Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
