Sylvia Sussna

Age 87, died on August 31, 2018, peacefully at her home in Squirrel Hill. Loving wife of 65 years of Edward; mother of Audrey Sussna and Ellen (David) Heyman; and proud grandmother of Andrea Heyman (Will Hall) and Ben Heyman (Courtney Paull). Sylvia earned a PhD in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Pittsburgh and worked at several universities and colleges in the Pittsburgh area. She also was proud of working for the National Council of Jewish Women. Sylvia and Edward traveled extensively and spent yearlong sabbaticals in Tehran and Paris. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, in support of Sylvia’s passion for reading.

George E. Munson

Age 87, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018. Son of the late Birrell and Elizabeth Munson; brother of Elizabeth Znidarzich, Jean Oxely, Lynn (Paul) Ray, and the late Laura Englman; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. George was dearly loved by many. Friends received Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at ROSE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 10940 Frankstown Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15235, (412) 241-5415, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, Steel Valley Braddock Corp., in memory of George.

William H. Brown, III

Of Pittsburgh, PA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 6, 2018. Son of the late William H. Brown Jr., and Ora (Smith) Brown; beloved husband of Faye (Lawson) Brown; loving father of William H. Brown IV and Matthew A. Brown; devoted grandfather of Josh, Brandon, and Jadia; brother of Dan (Michael), Eileen (Howard), LaVern (Ronald), Anthony, and Cathryn; also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Anne Dolores Smith Curtis

n Loving Memory Anne Dolores Smith Curtis, age 89, passed peacefully in her home August 4, 2018 in the loving care of family and friends. Born and educated in Salt Lake City, UT where she studied piano with Frank Asper, organist of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, she raised her children, Conrad, Martha and Paul Curtis, in Michigan and spent her last years with Martha’s family in Pittsburgh. She is survived by her three children, their spouses and 10 grandchildren. To honor her steadfast love and respect for children and deep belief in arts education, donations can be made to Neighborhood Youth Outreach Program, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 600 Pitt Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. A memorial service will be held August 15, 1:00 at Calvary Episcopal Church 315 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh
