In loving memory of Lloyd David Phillips Sr. a remarkable husband, devoted pastor, loving father, and cherished grandfather & great grandfather. Lloyd dedicated his life to serving others, embodying the true essence of compassion and strength. After meeting Barbara at Shadyside hospital he found the courage to ask her “can I taste your lipstick” 63 years later he was committed to tasting her lipstick ONLY. He became a devoted husband, he stood by Barbara’s side creating a partnership built on Holiness, unconditional love, respect, and mutual support. The foundation of their marriage was enriched with laughter, faith and an unwavering commitment to each other that inspired all who knew them. As a pastor, Lloyd devoted himself to his congregation, guiding them with wisdom and faith. His sermons were not just words; they were life lessons that touched hearts and changed lives. He was a beacon of hope for many, leading with kindness and understanding, and his legacy of love and service will continue to resonate within the community. As a father, Lloyd instilled values of Godliness integrity, and resilience in his children, teaching them to navigate life with courage and compassion. He was their steadfast supporter, celebrating their triumphs and comforting them in times of need, always encouraging them to live by the word of God. His role as a grandfather was one of pure joy. Lloyd lit up at the sight of his grandchildren, & great grands. Showering them with love and imparting lessons through all his life experiences, and through the word of God. He created lasting memories filled with laughter, countless vacations and unconditional love, shaping their lives in ways that will carry throughout generations. In addition to his roles as a husband, pastor, father, and grandfather, Lloyd was a proud union iron worker. His dedication to his craft was evident in his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Lloyd took immense pride in being part of a community of workers and shared stories filled with camaraderie and the importance of teamwork, instilling these values in his family. Lloyd has a rich history of contributing to various architectural marvels, including significant projects in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Known for their expertise in steel and iron fabrication, Lloyd played a crucial role in constructing iconic structures that define the city’s skyline. One of the notable projects is the C&G Towers, which stands as a testament to modern architectural design. Another significant contribution from Lloyd is seen in the PPG Building, Vista building, and the Travo building four architectural gems that reflects Pittsburgh’s industrial heritage. Preceded Lloyd in death parents Glenard & Juanita Phillips his sister Betty Jean McDonald his brothers Paul, Eugene, Edgar and Dwayne. He leaves to mourn his wife of 63 faithful loving years Barbara Jean Phillips. Keith (Melanie) Yarbrough, Pamela (Wes) Nowlin, Halena (Ed) Reed, Lloyd Jr. (Sherrie) Phillips Robin (Beckley) Skinner, Jill (Lamont) Smith, Kelly (Jack) Shannon, Chris (Shalya) Phillips. His siblings Norma, Glenard Jr. (Cynthia) His twin Lois, Cornelia, Richard (Charlotte,) Gail, Ranee (Al), Rachelle & Conrad He leaves to mourn, his beloved sister in law Ruby Hutchinson and his beloved brother in law John Johnson He also leaves to deeply mourn, 22 grandchild & 35plus great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Also to our devoted church family of Free Indeed Ministry you all know how deep his love was for you all. There’s was nothing he wouldn’t do for his church. Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work. He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to honor him, let us remember the lessons he taught us—the power of kindness, the strength of faith, and the importance of family. Though we mourn the loss of such a wonderful man, we also celebrate his life and the profound impact he made on our hearts. In the spirit of his teachings, let us continue to live with love and compassion, embodying the values he so passionately shared. Rest in peace, our beloved Lloyd David Phillips Sr. Your memory will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
Friends received Thursday, May 8, 2025 4pm to 8pm at Rose Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 10940 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 where service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11am.
